Linux Rescue CD and the dd_rescue utility


Lets hope you never need a Linux rescue CD, but if you do..... you might want to try the System Rescue CD:

I used version SystemRescueCd-x86-0.2.15, which includes the very cool dd_rescue utility.

What's so cool about this utility you may ask? Well it's like the dd utility, BUT it will work around bad blocks on the disk, allowing you to make a backup of the still readable portions of a damaged disk.
